Sesame Street - The Invention of The Wheel

This youtube video is a way to teach children a simple way the wheel was invented. I find it funny because transportation has come a long way and traffic is crazy.

  3. I like how the narrator of the video simplifies the jump from horse and wagons to automobile. “And then I’ll figure out some way to get rid of the horses- that shouldn’t be a problem”

Watching is as an adult (technically speaking) this video is really deep on a philosophical level. Caveman Carl is projecting out his idea and eventually wonders if he is better off with a wheel. I think that is a question we all need to stop and ask ourselves: are we truly better off with this new item. Not to be a Luddite but if technology is progress, and progress is moving ahead (this case literally), then the question is : is moving ahead always better?

  8. That viedo is the best. It shows the visions in the mind of someone foreseeing too far into the future. It sounds like Charles masons voice actually, kinda weird! But he would be the type of person to be strongly against cars and traffic. It does produce a "congested" world where there is nowhere to breath and literaly no air to breath either. Not good at the extreme. "and more cars and more and more and more>....!"

  9. That made me laugh. I'm sure someone saw the potential of a rock the very same way that character did.

  11. This video is a great example of how one simple idea or invention can grow into so much more. It's a great way of teaching kids to think out side the box. It's crazy how a rock has eventually turned into the fancy cars we have today-AMAZING!

  12. This video is a fun and creative way of teaching kids about the invention of the wheel. It's great to see cartoons incorporate learning into their bits. Even if it doesnt get into the details of how the wheel was invented, it's simplistic and gets the point across.

  13. Fun video. Without the wheel who knows where we'd be. Probably the most important invention.

  14. Its cliche to say the wheel is one of the greatest inventions of all times, but even so its still understated! The wheel harnesses energy and momentum in ways that ancient humans did not full understand, but were able to use. A huge step for mankind scientifically, socially (transportation), and culturally (allows for many types of construction)
