Virgin Galactic Commercial Flights set for 2011

  1. The next Hindenburg disaster just waiting to happen. I won't be going into space anytime soon using Virgin because you have to be extremely rich to get a seat. Oh well, there's plenty to see here on Earth for less money.

  2. Space travel is perfectly safe, if you're in a simulator. It's also a lot cheaper. This is good for the extremely wealthy with nothing better to do with their money. The rest of us will have to wait fifty years or win a sweepstakes to go into space. The space drop seems way too dangerous for me to ever attempt. At least it's environmentally friendly, so it doesn't kill the Earth faster.

  3. This is a great thing, I do agree it would be great to see. I would love to see the Earth from space and see space from space. It would be nice to have enough money to go, in our life time I dont believe we will see this kind of trip to space cheap like air travel.

  4. I fundamentally disagree with space travel on a personal and governmental level. We have no business going into space until we universally lifted all humans out of poverty. In addition to finding space travel boring, what right does anyone have to go into space. This seems like another one of those: we can so, we will things. How can someone from all walks of live travel into space, I don’t think all walks of live can afford this.

  5. I think space exploration is extremely important for the future of humanity. This is just another step to creating a home out of our solar system and not just Earth, which I think is vital if we want our species to survive (because, lets face it, it is inevitable that something will eventually happen to wipe out life on Earth). I would also love to go to space, which was previously reserved only to those highly skilled whom devoted their lives to science.

  6. We'd need a definite destination before I start telling Branson whether I want chicken or fish.
How about funding more space research for inhabitable planets (since we've all but ruined this one)?

  7. I've always thought this was a great idea, but I don't see it being cost-practical for many years. While the wealthy will be able to travel up into space the average blue and white collar employee will have to scrimp and save. I guess I can understand that though, since this is essentially a once in a lifetime "vacation" of sorts. I do agree with Karoshi though, we do need to devote more money to our space program before it falls apart. With the inevitable end of our shuttle program, we need to look to the future of where our planet will be and where the human race can possibly go and explore.

  8. thats awesome, but i won't be on it. the newest innovations are always the most outlandish when they first come about. I just don't see the productive reason in doing this right away. Ill let the kinks get worked out & get on one of these things when they're really good.

  9. I won't concern myself with commercial space travel. Why? I'm not filthy rich. I have enough trouble getting back and forth to work and school with the prices of gas and car insurance. Lets not get ahead of ourselves.

i 'm crazy enough to try it!
but i think i'd waite untill they went up at least a few times, to see if they really know what they are doing.

  11. Space travel would be amazing. I just feel like floating in orbit would get kind of old after a few hours? With nowhere to go or nothing to do, I think I'd wait until you can actually go somewhere, like the wookie planet.

  12. I believe it is the perfect idea to send visitors and sight seekers into orbit because it will open up our minds. It may be very expensive though but at least the opportunity for the average person is there. Its sometimes good to know that we are free to go somewhere even if we arent really planning on going, and for those wo do venture out. Their imagination and awareness of our universe will greatly expand. Hopefully they perfect the efficiency of these flights so it becomes a price effient business and these may be the first steps into establishing outerspace living communities. Orientation is always the foundation!
