Views of Future Transportation

This video is posted by Honda. I thought it was interesting. There are many different people talking about what they think transportation will be like in the year 2088. They talk about cars that are better for our environment. It was interesting to hear their predictions of the future.

  1. Self-driving cars would be awesome. Assuming they have smart sensors, the probability of an accident will dramatically decline. We would not need a license to drive, thus unrestricting our freedom to travel. It is agreed that a new method of energy or transportation is needed. Another eighty years will likely choke out our atmosphere at the current rate. We are incapable of altering our position of changing our cities to match our cars. We will not return to a local sense of community. I also agree that we will have to move to lighter cars. However, this can only really be done if it is done under one fell swoop, instantly making older cars inoperable. In short, the digital transition needs to happen. Otherwise, lighter cars will be at the mercy of big SUV’s and dissuade people from buying them. They must be made safer.

  2. I agree that self-driving cars would possibly cut down on the accidents. However, just like with other computerized things I would be afraid that hakers would attempt to do some sort of harm and take control over the computerized sensors and that could cause problems.

  3. Yeah, Tracy, terrorist could hack our future, self-driving cars en masse and drive us all into walls or worse.

  4. I thought this was a great video and I agree with all that is said in it. It is impossible to predict what the future has in store, but it is obvious that it is something big. Though self driving car would be nice, what about those that actually enjoy driving (or motorcyclists)? And I agree we have to be careful because there are a lot of people out there that can't drive real well, imagine what it would be like with hovering cars and other future ideas.

  6. What an awesome video. A few of those people looked far out! One guy was very philosophical and suggested good ideas towards how technology will render our current car usage obsolete and we will have no use for conventional cars any more...comparing it to the cell phone! we may be a shofar system and hopefully eletronic cars that run on water enegery!! the hydrogen!
