Artist's rendering of Boeing Phantom Works' X-51A WaveRider.Boeing Hunting Beach released this picture of a future rocket. It moves 4,200 miles per hour. It will be used as "hypersonic military missle, a space cargo transporter or a rapidly-deployable reconnaissance aircraft." They are also going to try to make it a passenger airliner, that could transport "travelers from Washington D.C. to London in 2 hours." You can read more about the X-51A at the link provided.
I wouldnt feel too safe traveling in a rocket that oves 4,200 miles per hour!! That would be crazy.. are they really planning on putting passengers in there?!!
ReplyDeleteumm yea, even if i was a day late on getting to a meeting of importance and to get there on time i had to use this rocket, no, i would use a regular airliner
ReplyDeletehaha i agree with stacy and kyle. Count me out. I dont want to travel in that thing.
ReplyDeleteI definitely would not feel safe traveling that fast. Can you imagine if you had a window seat? You would get motion sickness within the first minute of flight. I would like to see a video of the flight with the first passengers on it and their reactions...and if their eyes started bugging out of the heads when it was in flight. What happens if the cabin pressure drops? I'll stick to my commercial flights
ReplyDeleteI don’t even think if you look at it form saving fuel this think would be better than a regular air line, plus you’d have to fly 10 of these to suit the capacity of one Boeing 757.
ReplyDeleteWhere do I sign up for a test drive? What's the difference if you crash into the side of a mountain going 4200 miles an hour or 1200 miles an hour? Slim chance of survival either way.
ReplyDeleteThat is way too fast for me. I have never even been on a regular passanger plane only a two seater plane and I was not happy in the little plane I can tell you that....although flying around the world in a few hours seems pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteIt would be cool to travel to places faster then a regular plane. But what about saving in fuel? I don't know if this would be good for our environment especially now that everything is trying to go green.
ReplyDeleteThis would be cool but definatly scary, and probably unnecesary. There is no reason to travel in a plane this fast just like there is no reason to travel in a car 100 mph.
ReplyDeletethey still can't get me into a regular plane
ReplyDelete( i like my feet on the ground) there is no way i'd get in that
Yeah that does look pretty scary. It would be nerveracking walking into that this for the first time, no doubt about it.
ReplyDeleteit would be a pretty scarey feeling getting straped into this thing and being sent into the sky at that speed. I'm all about speeding up the whole process of flying a plane because I personally hate flying. But it wouldn't be to comfortable knowing that I'm the only one in it.
ReplyDeleteI see this as being overkill for "future transportation", especially when existing technology can transport people fast enough. I mean if consumers really wanted super fast air planes back, Concord planes would still be up in the air flying people at super fast speeds. What airlines should focus on first is a more fuel efficient airplane rather than something as overkill as this concept plane.
