Electric Cars

Not many people know about electric cars let alone what happened to them. This video here will explain them and what happened to them!!

  1. This is a great way to promote a greener lifestyle, but unless it seriously drops in price, it would never succeed. It has the same problem as a hybrid. The upfront cost made it hard to come out ahead economically. There is also the issue of charging. Regular cars need no charge time. People love convenience above all else. People also enjoy larger vehicles. Unless the price of gas and oil becomes prohibitively high, we will continue to use it.

  2. I agree with the comment above, Ithink these cars have a great plan in mind but the whole part about charging the car would never work for majority of drivers. What if you travel in your work day 300 miles, your car would probably never make it. Some people's lifestyles arent fit for these, while others are. All depends on the person

  3. I agree with you Laura, different strokes for different folks. I really like this post it reminds me of the Al Gore video we all saw in class. It really makes me angry to see that our democracy makes decisions without hearing the voices of those who desire a product like this. Great insight to the present day tech. for transportation.

  4. Electric cars are a really great idea, but not everybody can afford them. And like laura said, the car would never make it if you have to travel a long distance. Instead of stopping to get gas that takes 2 minutes, you have to stop and plug in your car. My dad travels at LEAST 200 miles for work on a daily basis, what would he do if it ran out of energy before he made it home?

  5. Our current political machine is fueled (no pun intended) in a big way by lobbyists within the oil industry. Electric cars will never be as ubiquitous as combustion engine automobiles.

  6. Where did the electric car go? Bring em back, but make them not so expensive lol. Oil Oil oil why do we love oil chane to electric. But like others were saying it is tru people are fuled on convenience and needing to take time to charge your care would be an inconvenience.

  8. Me too. Funny how we're not hearing much about electric cars as fuel prices go down-my friend has a hybrid and loves it - doesnt have the initial pick up on acceleration but otherwise very road worthy.

  9. THIS IS THE MOST INTERESTING BLOG ENTRY YET! Well i did not have to watch this trailer to know why an electric car is not seen on our streets today. They are efficient, and that a fact! But they were still only in the birth stages of development. Many can say that electric cars use a lot of electricity to run although any technology is not so efficient during the growth stages until it has reached full development and been further researched and perfected. But, why was no money going to these great new inventions to further perfect their new innovative technology? Greed. Money. A lot of things but not lack of efficiency as the movie so elegantly explains. Nice trailer unfortunately i would like to see more statistics and facts in support, But for only a an icing on the cake, not too shabby!

  10. Electric cars would never last. If you think about it, they are not “green” at all. If you think about it, these cars run out of electricity, which take a lot more than a trip to the gas pump to recharge. The other thing is its electricity, and that is not clean to make in the first place.

  11. If you have a short commute to work its a great idea. But the question is is it really a green car? Where do we get the electricity from? 40% of the green house gas emissions in the US are from power plants. We should go nuclear.

  12. Electric cars are nice and can fit alot of different lifestyles. does an SUV fit all lifestyles? does a pickup truck fit all lifestyles? does a $200,000 sports car fit all life styles? no. no. no. This would be a great alternative for those people who's lifestyles it fits, and for those of whom that it does not, they will need to look at other options.

  13. I have also heard that the autoworker's union was influential into bringing this car down as well. Some early models of electric cars were made to be very durable and not require the same maintenance as fossil fueled cars, which upset the auto mechanics, and helped lead to their demise--for the time.
